About Us
Who we are
IFMC - IL works
collaboratively with providers, Medicare consumers, stakeholders, and
government agencies to improve health care quality in the state of
Illinois. We accomplish this by fostering an environment where care is
safer, more effective, patient-centered, efficient and equitable.
In addition to our work in the areas of patient safety, care coordination
or transitions, clinical treatment advancement and preventive care
methods, IFMC - IL works to promote best practice models and serves as a
resource in the growing areas of Health Information technology and
Electronic Health Records. Our work is funded by the Centers for Medicare
& Medicaid Services (CMS), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services, which allows us to serve as the Quality Improvement
Organization (QIO) for our state. In this role, we are able to work with
heath care providers from the entire spectrum of care to create an
environment that protects and improves the quality of health care provided
to the more than 1.7 Million Medicare consumers in Illinois.
What we do
For Providers:
• IFMC - IL assists health care providers in hospitals, physician offices, nursing homes and communities with their quality improvement efforts by providing technical assistance, free training, serving as a resource and spreading clinically tested "best practice" health care strategies.
• IFMC - IL works with hospitals on quality data reporting requirements. For additional information on this topic, please visit our Quality Data Reporting page.
For Medicare Consumers (Also known as Beneficiaries):
• IFMC- IL educates on the importance of preventive health care, their health care rights and responsibilities and offers guidance if there are questions about care received.
• IFMC - IL responds to concerns about the quality of care received, and conducts case reviews to determine if services provided are medically necessary, appropriate and meet professionally recognized standards of care.
